You often hear about how entrepreneurs or other successful people got their big break -- how some piece of good fortune fell into their laps and turned their lives around. This is especially common when talking about entertainers who become overnight stars.
Think about someone like Amy Schumer. It seemed as though she simply appeared on the entertainment scene one day, fully formed as a comedian. But, Schumer spent years traveling all over the country, staying in bad hotels and playing in front of small groups while honing her craft. So, to the outsider, it might seem as though her success came all at once, but the truth is that Schumer worked for that recognition for a long time.
If you want to achieve your own success, then, don't count on becoming an overnight success -- there's no such thing.
